about Us

We would like to share the story behind Petsgo

Myself and my partner both worked as managers for a business in Leamington Spa. The hours we were working increased every week until we were out most of the day and night. I’d try to get home at Lunchtime to take our 2 Labradors, Ollie & Poppy out for a walk but this was becoming increasingly difficult.

It just was not fair on them to be left alone for such long periods of time. We would come home to find the house a mess, or something would be wrong because they were bored.

We knew deep down that we couldn’t keep them while we were working so much. It took us nearly 2 Months and much arguing to decide to re-home them. We even asked our bosses if we were going to be in the company ’long-term’ and they reassured us that we would be with the company for a life time.

It was the most heartbreaking decision we have ever had to make. It was like giving your kids up for adoption.The house was never the same again.

The journey up to Carlisle was horrible, they knew something was happening. We met up with Bill, who is a work friend’s Father, he was so happy to be taking our 2 dogs into his home. They all got in the car and I didn’t want to look as they drove off, I wish I hadn’t. Ollie was fine, all excited sitting in the front seat looking ahead, however, Poppy was in the back looking out of the rear window to us, as if to say ‘ Wait! We’re driving off without them, stop, let them in!’ That image has stuck in my mind.

They have gone to a really good place though, on a farm near Aberdeen, right next to the sea. Bill and his wife work from home so its good to know that they won’t be left on their own. I bet they have forgotten all about us now!

Shortly after, things went bad at the company. My partner was made redundant from his position, which is fine, new business and all. But it was the way it was done, they were really smug about it, laughed and found it quite funny. Big arguments followed. So I could not stay working for them, and later on that day I left the company. It was a shame because we really did care, and put a lot of work into it.

We didn’t need to give our ‘kids’ up after all!

So now we were both out of work and wondering what to do. We decided to create a pet care company called ‘pet’s GO!’ that offered a comprehensive range of services from dog walking to fish feeding.

If we can help people care for their animals or help people who are considering to re-home their pets, then we have reached our goal. We wouldn’t want anyone to go through the heartache we went through.

If you do work and are thinking of buying a pet, remember that its not fair to leave an animal on its own all day and remember that there are people who specialise in pet services that can help you. 

Terms & Conditions

All bookings are subject to these terms & conditions. Variation to the terms and conditions may be made from time to time and if you agree to use any of our services, you agree to our terms and conditions. Our charges are displayed on our website and you will be deemed to have accepted the charges of PetsGo upon confirmation of your booking. 

PetsGo charges are payable in consideration of the services we operate. Your booking will not be confirmed until PetsGo have received a booking form and deposit as confirmation. If a deposit is not sent with your booking form, then PetsGo will not be able to guarantee you a place. Your deposit is non refundable if you cancel the assignment. On occasion PetsGo at it’s sole discretion may proceed with a booking without advance payment of its charges. If the charges are not paid within ten days of the invoice, PetsGo reserves the right to charge an administration fee of 25% each and every week the account is unpaid. 

At particularly busy times of the year such as Christmas, New Year and Bank Holidays, our services will attract a surcharge. Charges for boarding are per 24 hour period a dog is resident, for example, Friday A.M through Sunday P.M is counted as two full days plus the day rate. Friday P.M through Sunday A.M is counted as two days. We do not give discount for part days. 

Once your booking is confirmed, PetsGo charges are non refundable. If, at it’s sole discretion, PetsGo have not decided to take a deposit, you will be invoiced 30% of the total cost of the assignment if you cancel. If you cancel within one week of commencement, or you do not show up, you will be charged 100% of the booking cost. If the assignment is a regular service such as walking or day crèche, PetsGo require four weeks notice to cancel. Occasional bookings of any description are subject to the normal cancellation charges. Cancellations must be received in writing. PetsGo reserves the right to cancel an assignment or any occasional booking provided it has reasonable grounds to do so. 

Your pet
PetsGo cannot accept bookings for badly behaved or aggressive animals. It may terminate an engagement immediately if it is reasonably thought that a pet is badly behaved or aggressive towards humans, animals or property. You will be liable if your pet injures a third party, any property or any other dog. 

Owner undertakes to make full disclosure of any quality or characteristic which might make your dog unsuitable for home boarding including behavioural or health problems, anti-social behaviour including aggression, incontinence and lack of house training or excessive loud barking and whining. Failure on the part of the owner to disclose any matter which might render owner’s dog unsuitable for home boarding will be deemed a material omission amounting to a fundamental breach of our agreement. No refunds will be given if we, for any reason have to terminate the agreement. 

Proof of vaccinations and your own insurance is essential. Kennel Cough vaccination is also required and it is your responsibility to make sure your dog has been vaccinated. If you fail to vaccinate your dog, PetsGo will not be liable if your dog contracts a virus whilst in it’s care. 

Please be aware that the Control Of Dogs Order 1992 mandates that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address including postcode of the owner engraved or written on it or engraved on a tag, whether the dog is micro chipped or not. It is the owners responsibility to ensure PetsGo hold their up to date details as in the unlikely event that your dog is lost, we would be unable to retrieve your dog from any pound. 

You must ensure that your pet is in good health, free from fleas and adequately wormed. If PetsGo believes that your pet is not in good health, it reserves the right to seek veterinary advice on your behalf and you will be liable for the veterinary fees. If it becomes necessary, your animal will be taken to a veterinary surgeon. You are responsible for any fees that are reasonably incurred during your absence or during the course of an assignment. 

All efforts will be made to contact the owner in the event of an emergency. We recommend that owners provide us with a contact number of a trusted third party should we be unable to make contact. However, PetsGo reserves the right to make decisions regarding your dog’s health provided it is at all times acting in the best interests of the animal and on the advice of a veterinary surgeon. Owner is responsible for any veterinary fees incurred by us. Owner accepts full liability for any loss or damage caused by the dog caused whilst in the care of PetsGo. Owner is financially responsible for any loss.
